Our family recently had to register a new domain for Mountos, and after checking prices at several domain registrars, we found significant price disparities. The generous discount codes and promotions that used to be widely available have also drastically diminished, making the virtual world feel all too real.
For example, GoDaddy, once the world’s largest domain registration platform, now charges $12.78 for the first year of a new .Com domain. But starting from the second year, the annual fee skyrockets to a shocking $23.28. Who gave them the audacity? Singer Fish Leong?
Meanwhile, after Google Domains shut down and was sold to Squarespace, the price for registering a new domain now stands at $14. That’s nearly a 40% increase from Google’s earlier $10 price. However, Squarespace’s backend interface is extremely unfriendly, and the frequent white-screen freezes during operation can make your blood pressure spike. If you previously registered with Google Domains, I strongly recommend transferring to another provider as soon as possible.
